海外の方と話をしていると、それぞれの地域でいろんな伝統があり、気候も違い、暮らしのスタイルも多様であることを知れて、とても刺激的で楽しいです。

日本についてもいろいろと聞かれたりもするので、今回は日本の春を外国人に紹介するときの英文を紹介します。

Japan has four beautiful seasons, spring, summer, fall, winter. The rich expressions of each season color our lives throughout the year. We have paid special attention to the seasons and their influence on daily life since olden times.

日本には、春夏秋冬の美しい四季があります。それぞれの季節の豊かな表情が、一年を通して私たちの生活を彩っています。昔から季節を大切にし、日々の暮らしに影響を与えてきました。

Spring in Japan is from March to May.

日本の春は、3月から5月です。

Melting snow is a sign of the coming of spring.

雪溶けは、春の訪れのしるしです。

When they hear a Japanese Bush Warbler singing, Japanese people feel the coming of spring.

ウグイスのさえずりを聞くと、日本人は春の訪れを感じます。

Many people feel the coming of spring when they see the cherry blossoms. Many Japanese people enjoy cherry blossom viewing in the spring. We drink and chat underneath the cherry blossoms.

多くの人は桜を見て春の訪れを感じます。多くの日本人は春にお花見を楽しみます。私たちは桜の下でお酒をのんだりおしゃべりをします。

From April, many spring flowers begin to bloom, and the trees grow green leaves, making it a colorful and beautiful season.

4月からはたくさんの春の花が咲き始め、樹木は緑の葉を茂らせ、色鮮やかで美しい季節となります。

There is a field full of yellow canola flowers.

黄色い菜の花が一面に咲いている畑があります。

We enjoy getting many different wild vegetables from the mountain and later we cook them to enjoy the taste of spring.

山で山菜採りを楽しんで、後に料理をして春の味覚を味わいます。

We have the Doll Festival on March 3. It's the day to pray for healthy growth and happiness for young girls.

３月３日はひな祭りです。女の子の健やかな成長と幸せを祈る日です。

Children's Day is celebrated every year on May 5. The day was originally called “Tango no Sekku”, or Boy’s Festival, was celebrated in order to wish the healthy growth of the boys in the family. Families with a boy  set up carp streamers outside the house.

毎年5月５日にこどもの日を祝います。その日はもともと『端午の節句』と呼ばれ、男の子の健やかな成長を願って祝う日でした。男の子がいる家では、おうちの外に鯉のぼりを飾ります。

New fresh leaves sprout from spring to the begining of summer, and the colors of the mountain turn from brownish to fresh green.

春から初夏にかけて新緑が芽吹き、山の色も茶色から新緑に変わります。

In Japan, you can clearly see the difference in seasons throughout the year.

日本では1年を通して季節の違いがはっきりと見られます。
