日本の夏について英語で紹介します。

Summer in Japan is hot and humid. 

日本の夏は蒸し暑い。

The swimming season in Japan usually starts at the beginning of July and lasts through August. Some of the most beautiful beaches in Japan are found in Okinawa. In Okinawa, the beaches are opened in April.

日本での海水浴シーズンは、通常7月初旬から8月にかけてです。日本で最も美しいビーチのいくつかは沖縄にあります。沖縄では毎年4月に海開きをします。

Tanabata is a Japanese Festival celebrated on July 7th, also known as the Star Festival. According to Chinese legend, Orihime and Hikoboshi were lovers and were separated by the Milky way, are allowed to cross it to meet once a year on the night. 

七夕とは7月7日に祝う日本のお祭りで、星祭りとして知られています。中国の伝説によると、恋人同士の織姫と彦星は、天の川を隔てて住んでいますが、年に一度この夜にだけ会うことを許されています。

We write their wishes on strips of paper and hang them from broadleaf bamboo, which is said to make their wishes come true.

願い事を短冊に書き、それを笹に吊るすと願いが叶うと言われています。

Obon is an annual Buddhist event for ancestor worship. It is believe that during the Obon, the ancestors’ spirits return to this world to see their descendant. Families gather together and visit the graves of their ancestors.

お盆は、仏教の先祖崇拝の儀式です。お盆の間、先祖の魂が子孫に会うためにこの世に帰ってくると信じられています。家族が集まり、先祖の墓参りをします。

There are so many summer festivals related to local traditions in Japan. 

日本には地域の風習に関連したたくさんの夏祭りがあります。

Summer in Japan is famous for the fireworks festival. We wear the Yukata, which is a traditional summer outfit in Japan and we go to the festival with family and friends.

日本の夏は、花火大会が有名です。夏の伝統衣装である浴衣を着て、家族や友人と祭りに出かけます。

Watching an incredible variety of shapes, colors and patterns of the fireworks is a lot of fun.

花火の形や色、模様が驚くほど多彩で、見ていてとても楽しいです。

Festival stalls lined up along the streets, and you can enjoy foods such as takoyaki, kakigori, candy apples etc.

通りには屋台が並んで、たこ焼き、かき氷、リンゴ飴などのフードが楽しめます。

Takoyaki is typical street food. It’s a popular snack – chopped octopus in a batter of flour, egg and dashi soup stock. 

たこ焼きは定番のストリートフードです。刻んだタコを小麦粉、卵、出汁の入った生地で包んだ人気のスナックです。

Kakigori is a shaved ice topped with flavored syrup.Typical flavors are strawberry, lemon, and Blue Hawaii. It’s a great way to cool down.

かき氷は、削った氷の上にシロップをかけたものです。よくあるフレーバーは、ストロベリーやレモンやブルーハワイです。クールダウンするのに最適です。

There are also games like lot drawing, shooting gallery and gold fish scooping and stalls selling popular anime goods.

くじ引き、射的、金魚すくいなどのゲームや、人気アニメのグッズを販売する出店もあります。

Chilled noodle dishes are essential during the summer. Chilled somen, or thin wheat noodles, which come with fresh toppings and a cold dipping broth. It is delicious, light, and suitable for the summertime.

夏には冷たい麺料理が欠かせません。そうめんは、冷たいつゆをかけ、新鮮な食材をトッピングして食べます。おいしくて、あっさりしていて、夏にふさわしい料理です。

During the hot season, wind chimes are hung outside the house to enjoy the cool sound.

暑い季節は、涼しい音色を楽しむために家の外に風鈴をつるします。
